The OnePlus 15 is the most polarizing flagship of 2025. Some call it the fastest Android ever made. Others say itโs a downgrade from the OnePlus 13 because of the camera and 1.5K display.
I used the OnePlus 15 (16 GB + 512 GB, Sandstorm variant) as my ONLY phone for 7 straight days โ BGMI at 165 FPS, 4K 120 fps underwater videos in a fish tank, 30-hour travel days, night street photography, and non-stop WhatsApp calls.
Hereโs the unfiltered truth after a full week.
1. Design & Build: The New OnePlus Identity (With a Twist) โ 9.3/10
OnePlus finally grew up. The OnePlus 15 feels premium in a way the 13 never did.

- Sandstorm Fibreglass back โ Looks like matte ceramic, zero fingerprints, tougher than glass, insanely satisfying to touch
- Nano-metallic frame (micro-arc oxidation) โ Looks plastic but is actually metal, no flex, no creaks
- Weight: 215 g โ Yes, heavier than the OnePlus 13 (195 g), but the weight distribution is perfect
- IP68 + IP69 โ Survives high-pressure hot water jets (tested in shower)
- Underwater Photography Mode โ Actually works! Shot crystal-clear fish tank videos
- IR Blaster is back โ Control TV, AC, set-top box like a remote
- Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor โ Fastest Iโve ever used, works with wet/oily fingers
- Alert Slider โ Still here, still iconic
Verdict: The Sandstorm finish is genuinely one of the best phone backs ever made. This feels like a โน1 lakh phone.
2. Display โ The โDowngradeโ That Isnโt Really One โ 9.5/10
Yes, the OnePlus 13 had 2K. OnePlus 15 has 1.5K. But in real life? You literally cannot tell the difference.

Why the 1.5K feels better:
- 165 Hz LTPO (vs 120 Hz on 13) โ Butteriest scrolling and gaming Iโve ever seen
- Drops to 1 Hz โ Saves insane battery
- 1800 nits peak brightness (vs 1600 nits) โ Zero issues in harsh sunlight
- Dolby Vision + HDR10+ โ Netflix & YouTube HDR looks jaw-dropping
- Gorilla Glass Victus 2
Verdict: Resolution downgrade on paper. Massive upgrade in real-world smoothness and brightness. This is the best display on any mainstream flagship right now.
3. Performance โ The Biggest Upgrade of All โ 9.8/10
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 + 16 GB LPDDR5X Ultra Plus RAM + UFS 4.1 AnTuTu: 3.8 million+

Real-world:
- Zero lag, ever
- Multitasking 50 apps โ Still snappy
- CPU throttling only 71 % under extreme stress (will improve with updates)
- Cryo-velocity cooling โ Phone stays cool even after 2-hour gaming
One downgrade: No 24 GB/1 TB variant like OnePlus 13. But honestly? 16 GB + 512 GB is more than enough for 99 % of humans.
4. Gaming Test โ Literally a Console in Your Pocket โ 9.9/10
This is where OnePlus 15 destroys everything.
BGMI:
- Default โ 120 FPS Ultra Extreme
- Enable Frame Interpolation โ 165 FPS stable
- Zero frame drops, zero heating
Call of Duty Mobile:
- Native 165 FPS option
- Console-level gyroscope โ feels like cheating
- Haptics are sharp and punchy (yes, slightly smaller motor than 13, but I didnโt notice)
Wuthering Waves, Genshin, Honkai Star Rail โ all max settings + 120โ165 FPS without breaking a sweat.
Verdict: The best gaming phone that doesnโt look like a gaming phone.
5. Battery & Charging โ The New Benchmark โ 10/10
7300 mAh silicon-carbon battery โ Largest ever in a OnePlus
Real numbers from my week:
- 10โ12 hours screen-on time daily
- Heavy gaming day โ 8+ hours SOT, still 30 % left
- 30-hour travel day โ Ended with 25 %
- 0โ100 % in ~40 minutes (120 W)
- 50 W wireless + reverse wireless
This phone killed my battery anxiety forever.
6. Cameras โ Upgrade or Downgrade? โ 7.8/10
Hardware (same as OnePlus 13):
- 50 MP Sony IMX906 main
- 50 MP 3.5x telephoto
- 50 MP ultrawide
- 32 MP selfie
- 128x AI zoom

Daylight โ Excellent colors, sharp details Portraits โ Best in class, beautiful bokeh Zoom โ 128x is surprisingly usable on text/buildings Underwater mode โ Actually works!
But:
- Low-light โ Noticeably worse than OnePlus 13
- Night mode takes 8โ10 seconds, results good but not magical
- No auto Action Mode โ Have to manually enable for moving subjects
- Video โ 4K 120 fps is smooth, but low-light video has noise
Verdict: Camera is a clear step backwards from OnePlus 13 and miles behind Oppo Find X9 Pro. Still great for 90 % of users, but no longer a โcamera flagshipโ.
7. Software โ OxygenOS 16 (Android 16) โ 9.2/10
- Clean, fast, minimal bloat
- 4 years OS + 6 years security
- AI features that actually work: MindSpace, AI menu translator, AI photo eraser
- Some AI still buggy (Motion Cues barely works)
Still smoother than One UI, HyperOS, or Pixel UI.
8. Speakers & Connectivity โ 9.4/10
- Dual stereo speakers โ Loud, bassy, clear
- Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual 5G
- Better signal than OnePlus 13
9. Pricing (India)
- 12/256 GB โ โน72,999 / $824
- 16/512 GB โ โน79,999 / $900
With launch offers โ easily under โน70k / $800. Insane value.
10. Final Verdict: Upgrade or Downgrade?
MASSIVE UPGRADE in:
- Performance & gaming
- Battery life
- Charging speed
- Display smoothness (165 Hz)
- Build quality & IP69
- Cooling
- Connectivity
CLEAR DOWNGRADE in:
- Camera (especially low-light)
- No 1 TB variant
- Slightly smaller haptic motor
Who should buy OnePlus 15?
- Gamers
- Power users
- People who hate charging
- Anyone who wants the fastest Android experience
Who should skip?
- Photography enthusiasts โ Get Oppo Find X9 Pro or Samsung S25 Ultra
Final Score: 8.9 / 10 The fastest, longest-lasting, smoothest OnePlus ever made. Just not the best camera phone anymore.
If performance and battery are your priority โ Buy it right now. You wonโt regret it.
