Asus ExpertBook Ultra 2026 Review: The Ultimate Business Laptop for USA & India

Asus ExpertBook ULTRA

For years, executives shopping for an ultra-premium laptop faced a simple binary: MacBook Pro, or compromise. However, the Asus ExpertBook Ultra changes that equation entirely.

Asus has been very clear about who this laptop is for. Specifically, it targets CEOs, CXOs, directors, business owners, and senior executives who need maximum performance, durability, security, and portability in one machine. In other words, budget is not the constraint here — results are.

After nearly 10 days of hands-on testing, including a trip to the official Delhi launch event, this is the most thorough real-world assessment of the ExpertBook Ultra available.

The verdict? After a very long time, a Windows laptop can finally stand alongside the MacBook Pro and win the argument.

The Display: Tandem OLED — A New Gold Standard

The display is the most impressive hardware achievement on the ExpertBook Ultra. Furthermore, understanding its advantage requires understanding what a Tandem OLED actually is.

Asus ExpertBook ULTRA

What Is a Tandem OLED?

A Tandem OLED stacks two OLED panels on top of each other in a single display assembly. As a result, brightness output increases dramatically, panel longevity extends, and color consistency improves — all without the burn-in concerns of a single OLED layer at maximum brightness. Currently, it represents the highest tier of laptop display technology available anywhere.

Brightness That Outshines the Competition

Standard premium laptops — including the MacBook Pro — top out at roughly 400 to 450 nits. In contrast, the ExpertBook Ultra’s Tandem OLED delivers 600 nits in standard use and a remarkable 1,400 nits at HDR peak.

In direct side-by-side testing, the ExpertBook at half brightness outshone a MacBook Pro running at full brightness. Additionally, against a Samsung Galaxy Book 16, the advantage was equally clear.

Anti-Reflective Glass Built Into the Panel

The matte anti-reflective treatment is not a coating applied after manufacturing. Instead, Asus engineers it directly into the Gorilla Glass Victus. Consequently, where a MacBook Pro reflects point light sources as bright, distracting blobs, the ExpertBook Ultra diffuses the same light completely.

As a result, working outdoors or in brightly lit offices is genuinely possible without squinting or adjusting your position.

Smooth at Every Speed

The display moves adaptively between 30Hz and 120Hz. Therefore, scrolling through documents and email feels silky at 120Hz, while static content drops to 30Hz automatically to protect battery life. Notably, the transition between rates is invisible during use.

Intel Panther Lake: A Step Beyond Lunar Lake

Intel’s previous Lunar Lake chips earned wide praise for their efficiency and performance balance. Even so, the new Panther Lake (Intel Core Ultra Series 3) improves on that platform meaningfully — particularly in sustained load performance and NPU speed for AI tasks.

Benchmark Results (Core Ultra X7)

Geekbench Single Core (Battery) — 2,188 Geekbench Multi Core (Battery) — 13,560 OpenCL GPU Score (Battery) — 53,761 SSD Read Speed (PCIe 5.0) — 11,222 MB/s SSD Write Speed (Battery) — 7,697 MB/s SSD Write Speed (Plugged In) — 8,800 MB/s

PCIe 5.0 SSD: Twice the Speed of Standard Drives

Standard premium laptops ship with PCIe 4.0 SSDs that deliver 3,500 to 4,500 MB/s. By comparison, the ExpertBook Ultra’s PCIe 5.0 SSD delivers over 11,000 MB/s read speed — more than double. For users working with large datasets, virtual machines, or heavy file operations, this speed difference saves real time every day.

Moreover, the SSD uses standard screws and is fully user-replaceable. This is unusual in ultra-thin laptops, where storage is typically soldered with no upgrade path.

Performance Modes

Whisper Mode — Fan is completely inaudible. Best for meetings and quiet environments.

Standard Mode — Balanced performance. Fan is rarely audible during everyday tasks.

Performance Mode — Maximum output. Fan noise appears only during heavy benchmarks or rendering.

Local AI: Run Gemma 4 (26 Billion Parameters) Fully On-Device

For business users, this is arguably the most important capability on the ExpertBook Ultra. Yet it remains the least discussed feature in most reviews.

The Panther Lake NPU, combined with 32GB of RAM, allows the laptop to run Google’s Gemma 4 with 26 billion parameters locally — with zero data sent to any external server.

“Whatever you do on ChatGPT or Gemini goes to the server — which is fine for casual users. However, if you handle confidential business data, you simply cannot do that. Here, you run AI entirely on your machine.”

Why This Matters for Business

In practical testing, PDF documents were loaded and queried using the local Gemma 4 model. Additionally, banking transaction data was converted to CSV and analyzed on-device. Throughout the process, no data left the laptop.

For executives handling sensitive financial data, legal documents, or proprietary business intelligence, this capability is genuinely transformative. Furthermore, the compliance and privacy implications alone justify the investment for many enterprise users.

Important note: Running the 26B parameter model requires the 32GB RAM variant. The 16GB variant does not support this configuration.

Build Quality and Durability

The 100kg Panel Pressure Test

At the Delhi launch event, Asus applied 100 kilograms of weight directly to the closed display panel. Notably, the screen survived completely intact. Thanks to Gorilla Glass Victus in the display assembly, the structure holds under loads that would shatter conventional premium laptops. For anyone who travels with a packed bag, this engineering has real daily consequences.

Asus ExpertBook ULTRA

Water Resistance

The ExpertBook Ultra passed live water testing at the same launch event. Therefore, accidental spillage and light rain exposure are both covered — a meaningful feature for executives who work across different environments.

Nano Ceramic Coating: 9H Scratch Resistance

Standard laptops scratch at 3H hardness. In comparison, the ExpertBook Ultra’s nano ceramic coating resists scratches up to 9H — three times the conventional standard. During daily testing with metal rings and watches, the surface showed no marks whatsoever.

Replaceable Ports: A Hidden Enterprise Advantage

The ports use screws and attach to the chassis independently — not to the motherboard. As a result, a damaged port becomes a simple, low-cost swap. On conventional premium laptops, by contrast, port damage means a full motherboard replacement costing $500 to $1,500.

Security Architecture: Protection Built From the Firmware Up

The ExpertBook Ultra’s security is not a software feature set. Instead, it starts at the hardware level — which is exactly what separates genuine business-grade machines from consumer laptops.

Asus ExpertBook ULTRA

Windows Hello + Fingerprint Scanner — Dual biometric authentication for maximum access control.

ASUS Security Processor — A dedicated hardware chip that protects against malware, rootkits, and ransomware at the silicon level, independent of the operating system.

Dual Self-Healing BIOS — Even after a full Windows reinstall on a compromised system, BIOS-level malware gets detected and automatically healed. No consumer laptop offers this.

Expert Guardian — An enterprise IT management platform that provides firmware-level oversight, remote management, and fleet security monitoring for IT administrators.

Chassis Intrusion Detection — The laptop detects and logs any unauthorised chassis opening, alerting security teams to potential physical tampering.

Physical Webcam Kill Switch — A hardware slider disconnects the webcam at the circuit level — not through software, which means it cannot be bypassed remotely.

Pricing: India and USA Markets

Final Verdict

The 2026 Asus ExpertBook Ultra is the most complete business laptop ever built for Windows. Moreover, it is the only machine that combines a Tandem OLED display, MIL-STD-810H durability with a live 100kg pressure test, on-device AI at 26 billion parameters, a PCIe 5.0 SSD, dual self-healing BIOS, replaceable ports, user-upgradeable storage, and 1.1kg portability in a single package.

For nearly a decade, the MacBook Pro held the default executive laptop position because no Windows alternative matched it holistically. Now, the ExpertBook Ultra does. Furthermore, in durability, security architecture, port replaceability, local AI capability, and display brightness, it surpasses Apple’s offering outright.

For Indian buyers, the 32GB Tandem OLED variant at Rs. 2,39,990 is the configuration to choose. After claiming the 18% GST input credit, business entities bring the effective cost down to approximately Rs. 1,96,700 — outstanding value for what is unambiguously the best Windows laptop available today.

For US buyers, expect pricing to align competitively with MacBook Pro M4 equivalents, with the added advantages of enterprise on-site service, extended warranty, and a security architecture that Apple currently does not match.
